Customization

Define custom intake workflows for dermatology, orthopedics, behavioral health, and other specialties

AI intake isn't one-size-fits-all. Configure specialty-specific questions—allergy details, surgical history, pain scale, medication list—so patients provide exactly what your team needs.

How it pays back

Clinicians get pre-visit context tailored to their specialty

A dermatologist knows the mole's location and duration before the patient sits down. A therapist knows the patient's current medications and reason for seeking care.

Fewer vague or missing details at appointment time

AI asks specific, relevant questions that patients answer better on the phone than on a generic form. Chief complaint is clear; severity is quantified.

Faster clinical workflows

Clinicians don't spend minutes re-asking questions the AI already covered. Chart review is quicker because key details are already documented.

Better patient experience

Patients feel heard when the intake questions match their reason for visiting. A behavioral health patient recognizes screening questions; an orthopedic patient knows they're being asked about mechanism of injury.

Frequently asked questions

Can we set up different intake workflows for different appointment types?

Yes. You can configure unique intake paths by specialty, appointment reason, or both. A new orthopedic patient gets a different intake than a return visit for physical therapy follow-up.

How do we define the custom questions?

Your team works with MedReception during setup to map clinical intake requirements to AI questions. We provide templates by specialty; you customize from there.

What if a question doesn't apply to a patient?

Use conditional branching. For example, 'Have you had prior imaging?' If the answer is no, skip the 'Which imaging did you have?' follow-up. The AI only asks relevant questions.

Can we track which patients gave incomplete or concerning answers?

Yes. The AI flags responses that suggest urgency (e.g., severe pain, suicidal ideation, or high fever). Your staff gets priority alerts so you can triage those patients appropriately.

Do custom intake workflows require separate EMR setups?

No. All workflows feed into your existing EMR. Responses are captured on the call and returned as structured, EMR-pasteable summaries tagged by field so your staff can review, confirm, and file them—regardless of which intake path the patient took.
