Schedule Interventional Pain Procedures Directly—Appointment and Patient Demographics Write to Your EMR

Pain patients call to schedule epidurals, joint injections, nerve blocks. AI books the appointment, writes appointment details and patient demographics (name, DOB, phone) to your EMR, captures pre-procedure information, and sends confirmation—one call, no followup.

How it pays back

Eliminate 'did they book or not' uncertainty

Patient calls, books the procedure, and it's in your system before the call ends. Staff sees the appointment live in the EMR. No one wonders if the booking was confirmed or left in a voicemail.

Prevent missed appointments and imaging snafus

AI confirms the patient has recent imaging, knows the prep requirements, and receives a reminder. When the patient arrives, imaging is ready and pre-procedure checklist is complete. Fewer delays, better workflow.

Reduce staff workload on procedure scheduling

Staff no longer spend time pulling voicemails, calling back to confirm bookings, or checking if imaging is available. The AI handles it, and the appointment is documented.

Direct EMR write prevents double-booking and errors

When the AI writes appointment and patient demographics to ModMed Pain or your EMR, the appointment is locked into the calendar. No risk of staff overbooking the same time slot or manually entering the wrong patient name or procedure.

Better pre-procedure patient education

Patient hears pre-procedure instructions on the call and receives a written reminder via text/email. Compliance with NPO status, medication holds, and imaging submission improves.

No callback tags

Booking confirmed and documented in one call

Imaging verified

Frequently asked questions

What if the patient calls to book but has no recent imaging?

AI books the appointment but flags in the summary that imaging is needed. Your staff receives the alert and can call the patient with imaging instructions, or order imaging before the procedure date. The appointment remains on the calendar.

How does the AI know which procedures your practice offers?

During setup, your practice configures the procedures you offer (epidural steroid injection, facet joint injection, medial branch block, radiofrequency ablation, etc.). When a patient calls, AI asks 'What procedure would you like to schedule?' and offers your available options. If the patient requests a procedure you don't offer, AI can transfer to staff or provide referral information.

Can the AI ask about anticoagulant use before booking?

Yes. AI can ask 'Are you taking any blood thinners like warfarin or aspirin?' The patient's answer is captured in the summary for your staff and clinician to review. The AI does not make decisions about holding medications—that's reviewed by your clinician before the procedure.

What if a patient calls to cancel or reschedule the procedure?

AI confirms the patient's identity and appointment, asks the reason for cancellation (optional), and updates the calendar. Your staff is notified and can follow up if needed. The cancellation is logged so you can backfill the time slot.

Does the AI send reminders, or does your staff?

AI can send an initial confirmation (date, time, location, prep instructions) via text/email during the booking call. Your practice may also send additional reminders via your standard appointment reminder system. Both work together.
