Multilingual Support

Answer calls in multiple languages without hiring multilingual staff

MedReception handles patient calls in Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and other languages, booking appointments and capturing intake in the patient's preferred language.

How it pays back

Reduce language barriers at first contact

Patients who speak Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, Tagalog, or other languages can book, provide intake, and ask basic questions without delay. The AI handles the call; your staff reviews structured data and escalates as needed.

Serve a wider geographic panel

Practices serving immigrant communities, urban centers, or rural areas with diverse populations can answer all incoming calls without maintaining a roster of multilingual receptionists. Appointment booking and new patient creation happen in the patient's language.

Comply with language access requirements

Many state and federal payers require language assistance. MedReception's multilingual handling demonstrates good-faith access to LEP patients and reduces documentation burden on clinical staff.

Frequently asked questions

What languages does MedReception support?

Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Korean, Tagalog, French, Arabic, and others. During setup, you choose which languages are active for your practice. If a caller speaks a language not configured, the AI can offer to transfer to a bilingual staff member or schedule a callback.

Does the AI switch languages mid-call?

Yes. If a caller speaks multiple languages, the AI detects the language being used and responds in kind. Callers can also request a language change mid-conversation.

How does multilingual intake get documented?

The AI captures intake in the language spoken by the caller and returns it as a structured summary for your staff to review. The summary is also available in English translation. Your staff enters the final appointment and patient demographics into the EMR.

What if a caller needs clinical advice in a language MedReception doesn't support?

The AI offers to connect the caller to a bilingual staff member, schedule a callback with an interpreter present, or provide a phone number for your language line service. This escalation is logged in your call history.

Does MedReception translate clinical notes?

No. The AI captures patient-reported information (symptoms, allergies, medications, insurance) as a structured intake summary in the patient's language and English. Your staff reviews this summary and enters the appointment and patient demographics into the EMR; MedReception does not write clinical documentation.
