After-Hours

Capture after-hours migraine calls, triage severity, and route to on-call provider without missed voicemails

Migraine clinics get acute calls 24/7, but staff can't answer outside business hours. AI receives after-hours calls, triages for urgency, routes red flags to on-call, and books urgent same-day slots for morning.

How it pays back

On-call provider gets the triage, not the raw call

Your on-call clinician receives a structured alert with call reason, red flags, and appointment already booked if needed. No decision paralysis; they can confirm or adjust the triage instantly.

After-hours callers don't hear voicemail

Patients in evening or weekend migraine pain reach a live voice immediately. Escalations happen in real time; routine calls are managed without waking the provider.

Morning schedule pre-populated with urgent after-hours calls

Your daytime staff arrives to a populated urgent queue, not a pile of voicemails to sort. Emergent patients are already booked in reserved slots.

On-call burden reduced

Routine pain management and preventive calls are deflected to the answering AI. On-call only handles true escalations or clinical judgment calls.

No lost follow-up on after-hours callers

Every call is logged and summarized. If a patient is booked for morning, they receive a text confirmation. If they need callback, your staff has full context.

Frequently asked questions

How does the AI route calls to my on-call provider?

The system integrates with your call routing (Ring Central, Twilio, or direct phone/pager). When an urgent or red-flag call is detected, the AI transfers the call or sends a notification alert with the patient summary to the on-call provider's phone. The provider can then decide to take the call or approve the AI's recommendation.

What if the patient doesn't want to book a same-day appointment?

The AI captures refusal and documents it in the call summary. The on-call provider sees the patient declined urgent scheduling. Routine calls are logged for morning staff callback or next-available booking.

Can patients reach the AI outside of business hours, or does it go to voicemail after-hours?

You configure the voicemail point: the AI can answer immediately after-hours, or you can route after-hours calls to the AI after X rings or a voicemail greeting. Most practices answer after-hours with the AI and reserve voicemail fallback for when the AI is unavailable.

What if my practice doesn't have 24/7 on-call coverage?

The AI can be configured to route only during your on-call hours (e.g., 6 pm–8 am weekdays, all weekend). Outside on-call windows, callers are offered next-available daytime appointment or an urgent slot for morning.

How does the morning staff see the after-hours call queue?

All after-hours calls are logged in a dedicated intake report accessible to your staff via the MedReception portal. Booked urgent appointments appear in your EMR calendar. Call summaries and patient details are available for callbacks and review.
