How to Implement MedReception AI: Step-by-Step Setup for Medical Practices

Learn the implementation process for MedReception AI, from EMR integration and call flow configuration to staff training and go-live. Get your practice up and running in days.

How it pays back

Rapid Deployment

Most practices go live quickly. Standard EMR integrations are pre-built. Your team defines workflows. Our white-glove onboarding team guides you through configuration—custom-built for your practice, not plug-and-play.

Minimal Disruption

Your current phone number stays the same. Calls route to the AI instead of your front desk. Staff processes only escalated calls. Business flows without interruption.

Training Built In

MedReception provides training on how to review escalated calls, file data into charts, and optimize workflows. Your team isn't left to figure it out alone.

Frequently asked questions

What information do I need to provide during setup?

You'll provide your EMR login details (for secure API integration), your current phone number, your practice schedule, triage protocols, and intake question templates. We use this to configure the AI's behavior.

Do I need to change my phone number?

No. Your current phone number stays the same. We configure your phone provider to route inbound calls to the MedReception AI platform first. If urgent, calls transfer to your staff. Your staff phones stay active for outbound calls.

How long does EMR integration take?

For supported platforms (athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Epic, Elation, Cerbo, Hint, Tebra, AdvancedMD, ModMed), integration timelines vary: athenahealth and eClinicalWorks typically 1–3 weeks; others 3–6 weeks. Your EMR credentials are used to establish a secure API connection. For unsupported systems, we work alongside your EMR and return structured, pasteable summaries for staff to file.

What happens if something breaks during go-live?

Your dedicated implementation specialist monitors the setup. If issues arise, we troubleshoot in real time. If needed, we can fall back to manual answering and try again. You're never left without call coverage.
