Patient Intake

How does AI intake data get into my EMR without auto-populating the chart?

AI captures patient intake during the call as a structured summary. Your staff review the summary, verify accuracy, and file it into the chart. Clinical data never auto-populates—your team stays in control of what enters the official record.

How it pays back

Your Team Controls Chart Integrity

Nothing enters the official record without human review. Clinical summaries are presented for your team to verify, edit if needed, and file on your schedule.

Fewer Documentation Errors

Structured summaries are easier to review and verify than handwritten notes. Your team catches inconsistencies before filing.

Compliance Peace of Mind

HIPAA and state regulations require that clinical documentation be accurate and physician-reviewed. This workflow keeps your team accountable.

Better Handoff to Provider

Providers see patient intake summary in advance. They can review chief complaint and history before walking into the room.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't the AI just auto-populate the chart like my other integrations?

Because clinical documentation must be reviewed and verified by your staff before entering the official record. Auto-populating unreviewed patient-reported data into the chart creates liability and compliance risk. Structured summaries let your team verify accuracy while saving them transcription time.

What does get synced to the EMR?

Only new patient demographics: name, date of birth, phone number, and address. This creates the new patient record so your team doesn't have to manually enter basic contact info. Clinical details are returned separately for your team to review and file.

How long does it take for a summary to be available for my team?

Summaries are generated immediately after the call ends, usually within 1–2 minutes. Your team can access them via the MedReception portal or receive them as a note in your EMR's inbox, depending on your setup.

Can my provider edit the summary before it goes into the chart?

Yes. Summaries are formatted for easy copy-paste into your EMR's note template. Your provider can review, edit, add clinical impressions, and file it however your workflow requires.

What if the AI captured something incorrect or incomplete?

Your team reviews the summary before filing. If information is incorrect or incomplete, your staff can reach out to the patient, verify details, and update the summary before filing it into the chart.

Does this workflow work with my current EMR?

Yes. MedReception integrates with athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Epic, Elation, Cerbo, Hint, Tebra, AdvancedMD, and ModMed. New patient creation works across all of them. Intake summaries can be delivered to your EMR's inbox, your MedReception portal, or both.
